Live Sound Experience
I started learning sound at church when I was in junior high. After learning the basics I started work on upgrading the church sound system. In high school I started working as a freelance engineer at a local sound company, and then in college came back to the company during the summers doing lots of assisting, loading in and out, an internship, some mixing, etc. I am grateful for the huge amount of knowledge and experience I gained from such a great company. I have also worked part time at many churches and am very familiar with the unique needs of a church.
I currently work full time as the Technical Supervisor in Event Services at Biola university. I am excited to work with a great team of people and use some great equipment. I primarily mix on a Digico SD12 & SD9 with d&b speakers, though I have experience with a lot of other equipment as well.
Responsibilities include: supervising technical staff, mixing live events, training student workers, planning/installing new systems, upgrading current systems in seven venue locations as well as keeping portable/outdoor systems working well. I am responsible for keeping track of the department's inventory as well as creating an equipment renewal plan which estimates the life span of equipment and gives us data on when we should budget replacement costs.
